Medical Student Leaders
Uzoamaka Agubokwu was born and raised in Maryland to Nigerian immigrants. Uzo received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology from Lincoln University and is currently a second year medical student at New York Medical College. Uzo's interests include fitness, healthy eating, travel, poetry, natural hair, the Bible App, and watching Nigerian YouTube series during breaks in between her medical school classes. At 16 years old, she published her first book of poetry, "The Heart of A Child," and engaged in many book signings and motivational speaking engagements as a result. During her Kaffeeklatsch classes, Uzo hopes to remind a group of fierce, beautiful, intelligent, valued, strong young ladies that they are all that and more! Email her at [email protected]
Brianna Atkinson is a Brooklyn native with roots in the Caribbean. She went to college in Boston at Tufts University and did her post-baccaulareate at Harvard in preparation for medical school. She has worked in community development, sleep medicine research, and foster care services over the past years but she is currently a second year medical student at New York Medical College. She enjoys spending time at home with her fiancé and dog-child Shadow. When she has a free moment she takes dance classes, cooks, does photography, writes and dabbles in the occasional Saturday brunch. Brianna has a true passion for women's health and empowerment and believes the earlier we take ownership over our bodies the stronger we can become as individuals and as a unit of women. Andrea Nortey is a second year medical student at New York Medical College. She was born and raised in the Bronx, but spent a lot of her childhood with her family in Ghana. She attended Tufts University where she double majored in Community Health and Religion. At Tufts, she was a member of ENVY (the all female step team) and spent a lot of time volunteering in homeless shelters around Cambridge, specifically helping individuals create resumes to find jobs and resources.
After college, she worked with women and adolescent health; and later shifted to healthcare in innovative technology. At NYMC she is on the board for the Student National Medical Association and the Wellness Committee. After medical school, she would like to work with underserved, minority and high risk populations in a clinical setting as well as through public health programs and interventions.
She loves traveling and trying out unique experiences and adventures on trips. In her free time, she enjoys painting her nails and trying new design techniques (she has a crazy nail polish collection), and trying new restaurants in NYC. Email her at [email protected]

Michaela Scott is a second year medical student originally from Los Angeles, CA. Before moving to NY, she attended undergrad at UCLA where she led several organizations geared towards mentoring pre-med peers and youth in the community and has made national efforts to provide resources for underserved families. Before medical school, she worked as an ABA instructor for children with autism which fueled her interest in working with children in her career. She has a passion for the Lord, traveling the world, and experimenting with new recipes. When she's not studying, you can find her working on her kickboxing skills or painting a new piece. We have a solid curriculum in place for our kaffeeklatsches, and she'll be looking to incorporate your passions, talents, and interests into the sessions as well. Ultimately, she aims to empower young women to reach new heights, stand tall in their truths, and to realize just how much they have to offer. Email her at [email protected]
